Shingles is a painful rash caused by reactivation of the chickenpox virus, which can lie dormant in the body for years after a childhood chickenpox infection. It typically appears as a band of blisters on one side of the body.

Painful burning or tingling, red rash after pain begins, fluid-filled blisters that crust, itching, fatigue, fever.
