Everything you need to know before your first visit.
For quick care, start your visit right on the site — pick your condition, answer the questions, and pay at the end. For a live video visit, click any Book Now button and choose a time that works for you.
We are currently licensed to practice in Maryland (MD), Virginia (VA), Georgia (GA), California (CA), Washington DC, and Pennsylvania (PA). You must be physically located in one of these states at the time of your visit — not just a resident. If you're traveling and in one of these states, you can still be seen.
We're considering expansion to additional states based on demand. Adding a new state typically takes six months or more. Tell us your state through our contact page and if there's enough interest, we'll prioritize it in our expansion planning.
After booking, you'll receive a link by email. At your appointment time, click the link from any device — phone, tablet, or computer. No app download required.
You'll complete a brief intake form when booking, which takes about three minutes. After your first visit you'll have a patient portal account where you can message us, view your visit notes and prescriptions, and book follow-up visits.
Li Health is a focused virtual practice: quick care for more than 50 everyday conditions, weight loss medicine, and urgent care. This focus lets us provide the highest quality care in these areas rather than trying to be everything to everyone.
We do not provide ongoing management of chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disease, or heart disease. For chronic condition management, continuity of care, or specialist referrals, please see your primary care physician.
One exception — short-term medication bridge refills. If you're an established patient and find yourself temporarily without access to your regular physician, we can provide a short-term refill bridge for certain chronic condition medications so you're not left without essential medicine. This is a one-time or limited courtesy, not a replacement for ongoing care with your primary doctor.
If you're unsure whether your concern falls within our scope, send us a message and we'll let you know right away.
Lab work is an important part of your care — especially for weight loss medicine and GLP-1 management, where we monitor your metabolic health, kidney function, thyroid and other key markers before and during treatment.
You may get your blood work done at any lab of your choice. We recommend Labcorp or Quest Diagnostics because they let us access your results electronically, making your care faster without you having to track down and upload records yourself.
We'll give you a lab order at the appropriate time during your visit. Take it to your nearest Labcorp or Quest location — no appointment needed at most locations.
We are a cash-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, we provide a superbill — a detailed medical receipt with diagnosis codes — that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement varies by plan and individual benefits: some plans reimburse a portion of out-of-network telehealth costs, others do not.
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover), HSA cards and FSA cards. Payment is collected at the time of booking.
Medication costs are separate from visit costs and depend on the medication, your pharmacy, and your insurance. Many generic medications cost $10–30 a month. GLP-1 medications vary widely — some insurance plans cover them, others don't. Your physician will discuss your options during the visit and help you find the most affordable path.
Li Health operates as a cash-pay practice, meaning our appointment fees are not billed to insurance. This keeps our focus entirely on your care rather than prior authorizations and billing delays. Insurance can still work in your favor in several ways:
What insurance does not cover: Li Health appointment fees, which are paid directly at the time of booking.
If you have questions about your specific coverage, we recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card before your appointment.
No. Li Health does not prescribe any DEA-scheduled controlled substances. This includes opioid pain medications (hydrocodone, oxycodone, tramadol), benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, Ativan), ADHD stimulants (Adderall, Ritalin, Vyvanse), sleep medications (Ambien, Lunesta), muscle relaxants (Soma/carisoprodol), and any other Schedule II–V controlled medication. Please see your primary care physician in person if you need these.
Yes. Li Health has a board-certified Obesity Medicine physician and can evaluate you for and prescribe GLP-1 receptor agonists (semaglutide, tirzepatide and others) when clinically appropriate. These are not controlled substances. Your physician will review your medical history, current health status and goals before prescribing.
Yes, for non-controlled medications. For refills of chronic condition medications such as blood pressure, thyroid or cholesterol treatments, your physician may need to review records from your previous doctor and recent labs to ensure safe, continuous care. Please have that information ready.
Any pharmacy you choose — CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, a local independent pharmacy, or mail-order pharmacies like Express Scripts or Cost Plus Drugs. Just let us know at the time of your visit.
FDA-approved criteria for GLP-1 weight loss medications include a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 or higher with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or sleep apnea. Note that Li Health does not provide ongoing diabetes management — for type 2 diabetes care, please see your primary care physician or endocrinologist.
In clinical trials, semaglutide (Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Zepbound) showed average weight loss of approximately 15–22% of starting body weight at the highest doses, when combined with lifestyle changes. Real-world results vary widely — some patients lose more, some less, and a portion don't respond significantly. Your physician will help you set realistic, personalized goals based on your full health picture.
Not sure whether your concern is something we can handle? Send a message and we'll tell you right away — before you pay for anything.
